Rank In Class

To compensate for the degree of work demanded in each track level, a system of Quality Points has been devised by the diocesan school system. For each grade a student receives, a corresponding number of Quality Points based on the track level of the subject are awarded. Current and cumulative rank in class are determined by Quality Point Average at the end of the semester in January and June.

Calculating Quality Points for Third Quarter

The program averages the first semester and third quarter grades. This average is cross referenced with the course's track to determine the number in the quality point table. Multiply the quality point table number by the amount of credit to get the quality points for the course. For a first semester course, cross reference the first semester grade with the course's track to determine the number in the quality point table. Multiply the quality point table number by the amount of credit to get the quality points for the course. The averaging of the semester grade with the third quarter grade is an important consideration for those schools which determine honors based on quality points. As a rule, the schools do not report rank-in-class for the third quarter, because the diocesan scholars do not have third quarter grades.

Example:
(((First Semester Grade + Third Quarter Grade)/2 ) +.5)  (For you algebra lovers)
(95 + 98 ) = 96.5  plus .5 to round up = 97.0  Now take the integer.

Humanities Seminar

Conwell-Egan Catholic is proud to go on with this innovative and exceptional elective for School Year 2010-2011. CEC is very delighted that the Humanities Seminar was well received by the students and the course was successful in meeting its intended outcomes.
