Health Services

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the CEC Health Services web page.

Here are a few things I’d like to share with you.  I am available in the health office daily during school hours to meet the needs of your students.  If your son or daughter needs to be sent home for illness or injury, you will be contacted directly by the health office.  You will be asked to meet your student in the Student Services Office, Room 117, where you will sign them out of school.  Students will only be released to individuals listed on their emergency cards which are kept on file in the health office.

Over-the-counter medications such as generic Tylenol, Motrin or Ibuprofen, Imodium, Benadryl and Tums are available to the students only with your written consent on the back of the student emergency cards. All other medications, prescription or over the counter, will only be given with written parental permission and a physician’s written order.  Students are not permitted to carry any form of medication, prescription or over the counter for personal use.  The only exception to this rule is students who have a documented need for Epi-Pens and rescue inhalers for asthma.  Physician orders and parental consent forms must be on file in the health office allowing students to carry and self administer these emergency medications.  Students should report to the health office if these medications are taken so their status may be evaluated.

Students who need to take medication during school hours such as antibiotics, eye drops, etc. need to provide the medication in an original pharmacy container which will be kept in the health office.  Medication will be administered as directed through the necessary written physician orders with parental consent.

Immunization requirements for children attending school in Pennsylvania have changed for the 2011 – 2012 school year.  Even though some of our students reside in New Jersey, they too must abide by the mandated vaccine regulations.  Currently, all students in all grades need the following:  4 doses of tetanus (1 dose on or after the 4th birthday, 4 doses of diphtheria (1 dose on or after the 4th birthday, 3 doses of polio, 2 doses of Measles and 2 doses of mumps which are usually given as a 3 in 1 vaccine with Rubella (German Measles), 3 doses of Hepatitis B.  The newest requirement which directly affects CEC students is the requirement for 2 doses of Varivax for chickenpox or a reported history of Chickenpox disease.  It is recommended that students have 1 dose of meningitis vaccine (MCV) and a Tdap booster for tetanus as well if at least 5 years have passed since the last tetanus immunization.  You may contact the health office and I can tell you if your student is up to date or if they need a booster.  Bucks County Department of Health can be reached at 267-580-3510 to schedule an appointment for free immunizations as an alternative to your family physician.

Incoming freshmen are required to have a physical exam which can be done through the school or by family physicians.  Immunizations can be updated at this time at your

We can be reached at 215-943-3200 ext. 248 between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please feel free to stop by the office.
