Conwell-Egan Catholic and The United Way
Wednesday, 21 December 2011 09:22Recently, The Community Service Corps contacted the Lower Bucks Chamber of Commerce to coordinate an opportunity for students to do something in the community. Jen South, a senior at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School, was the contact and through her efforts was given information about the United Way Toy Drive for needy Bucks county families. Following this, Mr. Richard Papirio and his students contacted each homeroom, and set up drop boxes in the Student Services office. This was one of two Christmas Drives organized by the community service corps. Senior Jacque Wanjek also organized a highly successful toy collection for the Red Cross Shelter. She set up a Giving Tree in the lobby and students selected a child's name, and then purchased a gift ranging from $15-$20. The gifts will be handed out by Santa Monday evening, and the faculty will volunteer their service that night as well. The corps is also making and serving dinner to a homeless shelter.
